What should I look for?

Answer: There are many warning signs that someone may not be safe behind the wheel:

  • Trouble navigating a turn (for example, turning into the wrong lane at left hand turns)
  • Moving into a wrong lane or difficulty staying in one lane
  • Incorrect signaling
  • Difficulty parking
  • Hitting curbs
  • Confusing brake and gas pedals
  • “Riding” the break
  • Stopping in traffic for no apparent reason
  • Speeding or driving too slow
  • Other drivers honking horns
  • Decrease in confidence while driving
  • Easily distracted while driving
  • Increased agitation or irritation when driving
  • Near misses
  • Scrapes or dents on the car, mailbox or garage
  • Ticketed moving violations or warnings
  • Failure to notice activity on the side of the road
  • Failure to notice traffic signs
  • Not anticipating potential dangerous situations
  • Delayed responses to unexpected situations
  • Confusion at exits
  • Getting lost
